Deleting your account

This page explains how to delete your Tatsat account, on the website or from the Android app; what happens in the seven days before it is deleted; and what is erased and what is kept.

How to ask for it

Sign in at tatsat.ai with the account you want to delete and open the account page. Under “Privacy”, choose “Delete the account”: a note says what will be erased and what will stay. Then choose “Ask to delete the account”.

In the Android app, “Delete the account” on the account screen opens this page. The account is the same one on the website and in the app, so asking on the website, as above, deletes the account you use in the app as well.

If you would like a copy first, “Download my data” on the same page gives you everything the account holds, in one file.

The seven days

Asking starts a seven-day period, and a confirmation email comes to your address. It names the day the account will be deleted and links to the account page.

During those seven days you stay signed in and can still listen; the account page shows the date the account will be deleted. The morning reminder email is not sent in that time.

Until then, “Keep the account” on the account page cancels the request, and the account stays.

What is erased

After seven days everything that identifies you is erased: your email address, name and preferences; your sign-ins on every device and your sign-in methods; the morning reminder; the record of emails sent to you; the random identifiers of the devices whose record was added to your account; and your requests for the sādhanā mālā, with the record of what was opened for you.

What lives on your own devices is deleted there. The Android app keeps on the phone where you paused, your settings and a random device identifier, and uninstalling the app deletes them. In a browser, “Delete the practice record on this device” on the account page, or clearing the browser's site data, deletes the practice record kept there.

What is kept

The record of the satsangs you listened to, the days you completed, your answers to the one question asked after a satsang and the journeys you joined stays under a number that leads to no person, so that aggregate figures stay true.

The record of sign-ins and data requests completes its one year under the same number.

Signing in again with the same email address creates a new account.
